“I’m back on the trail,” Fetterman said in the video in reference to a walking trail where he said he is walking “miles every day.”

FETTERMAN HEALTH QUESTIONS CLOUD CHANCES FOR DEMOCRATIC PENNSYLVANIA SENATE WIN

Fetterman said he is feeling “better and better every day” and plans to return to the campaign trail “really soon.”

https://twitter.com/JohnFetterman/status/1534244349600464899Since his landslide victory in his primary last month, Fetterman, who is also the state’s lieutenant governor, has not yet disclosed when he will return to the campaign trail after suffering a stroke shortly before the election.

Just days before the May 17 primary, Fetterman disclosed that he suffered a stroke, saying he expected to make a full recovery. On the day of the primary, his campaign disclosed that he underwent a procedure to install a pacemaker with a defibrillator, calling the procedure successful.

But questions were raised about that course of treatment, which some reports said was atypical for atrial fibrillation, a condition cited as a factor in Fetterman’s stroke. His campaign did not clarify the discrepancy until last Friday when it released a letter from Fetterman’s cardiologist with more information about his condition, accompanied by a written statement from the candidate.

“I need a little more time,” Fetterman wrote at the time. “I’m not quite back to 100% yet, but I’m getting closer every day.”

Pennsylvania Democrats are eager to return Fetterman to the campaign trail, where he will face television personality Mehmet Oz as the Republican nominee.

A lengthy recount process for the Republican primary between Oz and businessman Dave McCormick, his closest rival, bought Fetterman some time to recover before he had a set Republican opponent. But his return to the campaign trail has new urgency now that he has a clear rival.

Pennsylvania’s Senate race has been called a toss-up by nonpartisan election analysts, and the seat is seen as possibly the best pickup opportunity for Democrats as Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) retires and Democrats seek to maintain or grow its Senate majority.

Also on Tuesday, the Fetterman campaign launched two new ads in markets across Pennsylvania, both filmed in early May. The ads strike a populist tone, highlighting the candidate’s roots in the state and his criticisms of federal policies he said contributed to problems facing the state, such as the opioid epidemic.
