A group of thieves in Chicago used a stolen heavy construction vehicle to rip open and loot an ATM Thursday afternoon.
The criminals stole a backhoe from a nearby neighborhood and then used it to tear apart a strip mall’s ATM, according to police. The vehicle was stolen from the construction site around 4:00 p.m., according to a report.
The thieves used a GPS to drive the backhoe to the strip mall, which sat at least 180 city blocks away, the report noted. When authorities arrived at the strip mall, the ATM had been ripped open by the backhoe.

“They took this tractor, came all the way across the city to do this? And nobody says anything? They can steal a tractor and come all the way over here? This is crazy!” said Gina Stewart, a local resident.
