Punk show charges $18 for vaccinated individuals and $1,000 for nonvaccinated

A Florida punk show that claims to be prioritizing safety is charging fans nearly $1,000 per ticket to enter if they are not able to prove they are vaccinated — a price that is discounted to a mere $18 if people provide proof of receiving a coronavirus vaccine.

“If you do not care about the discount, tickets are available for a flat rate of $999.99,” a promotion for the concert reads.

“To be eligible for the DISCOUNT, you will need to bring a government-issued photo ID and your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (if you have lost it keep reading, we got you). You will need to have had your second shot of Pfizer or Moderna, or your single shot of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on or before 6/12/2021,” the flyer continues.

The show is set to take place on June 26 and features Teenage Bottlerocket, MakeWar, and Rutterkin. The concert’s promotion also provides details about where an individual can receive a vaccination and where they can request a vaccination card.

“We are following the constantly updated CDC guidelines for fully vaccinated people. We will continue to update when new information becomes available,” it adds.

Paul Williams of Leadfoot Promotions in Tampa Bay said he wants to use the discount as a means to encourage people to get vaccinated.

“I also wanted it to be a vaccine drive to get the fence-sitters off the fence,” Williams said. “I wanted to get the kids that want to go to shows to go out and get their shots.”

The band and those staffing the venue have all been vaccinated, according to Teenage Bottlerocket singer and guitar player Ray Carlisle.

“We’re all vaccinated. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated so we can see you in the pit,” he told a local news outlet.

The promoter of the concert said he is not denying entry to those who are not vaccinated, encouraging them to “buy a full-price ticket … like everyone else.”

Over 200 of the discounted tickets are being sold to the public, while only four of the $1,000 tickets are available.
