A wildfire in Arizona has tripled in size in one day after igniting Sunday morning.

The fire began 6 miles north of Flagstaff and originally spanned 1,500 acres. Evacuations have been announced for the surrounding area, and a 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the fire.

The name of the man arrested has not been released to “protect the integrity of the investigation,” Patrol Captain of Coconino County Andy Pederson said.

A white pickup truck was reported by a resident to be leaving the area where the fire began. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office was given a description of the vehicle, and deputies later spotted a vehicle matching the description.

The blaze has spread 15 miles in a day and now encompasses roughly 5,000 acres since Sunday morning. While evacuations have been ordered, no homes have been destroyed so far. The exact cause of the wildfire is not known and is still under investigation, police said.
