A woman filed a lawsuit against a doctor who allegedly used his own sperm to inseminate her decades ago.
Bianca Voss, 75, filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday accusing Dr. Martin Greenberg of injecting his own sperm into her without her consent in 1983. Voss only found out that Greenberg was the alleged father of her daughter Roberta after she participated in a DNA test kit through 23andMe in September 2020.
The elder Voss “is shocked and devastated by Greenberg’s disgusting abuse of his power to violate her trust,” the lawsuit said. “Defendant had no right to insert his own sperm into Plaintiff without her consent. He did not tell her that he would use his own sperm, he stated that the sperm donor would be anonymous, and he otherwise led her to believe that the sperm donor would not be himself.”
The lawsuit does not specify how much monetary compensation she is seeking, and she’s also looking to get a copy of Greenberg’s medical history.
“Greenberg’s heinous and intentional misconduct is unethical, unacceptable, and illegal,” it added.
She first visited the doctor’s Manhattan offices in 1983 to seek his fertility services because her partner had previously had a vasectomy. The doctor asked her for $100 to find a sperm donor.
Voss’s procedure was successful, and she gave birth the next year.

“Dr. Greenberg violated Bianca,” attorney Adam Wolf told the Washington Post. “He thought that he could insert his own sperm into his patient’s body by tricking her and without her consent. This is not only gross and unethical, but it’s a severe violation of Bianca’s bodily autonomy.”
He acted in a way that was “dishonorable, unethical conduct,” though details of the specific allegations are unknown, an April 2010 investigation found.
