Some major public libraries across the United States have stocked their shelves with content that they shouldn’t. Sadly, this includes books trying to normalize the killing of unborn children.
Urban libraries are now stocking a children’s book called What’s an Abortion, Anyway? It is pro-abortion propaganda for children as young as 8 years old. Our taxpayer dollars shouldn’t prop up the promotion of such a heinous book.
In the span of three pages, the book tells children abortion is OK for any reason at any stage of pregnancy.
“Some people have abortions because they can’t take care of a new baby right now,” the book says. “Some people have abortions because their doctors say pregnancy could make them sick. No matter the reason, everyone should be able to make this decision for themselves.”
If this is true, then it’s perfectly valid to have an elective, third-trimester abortion because the family doesn’t want to have a girl, or the baby will be born into the Year of the Sheep. And when former President Richard Nixon said he supported abortion in cases of miscegenation, that was also OK. It’s not like those are horrific reasons to kill an innocent person, right?
In addition to supporting abortion on demand, the book misleads children about the true nature of abortion.
“An abortion is when someone decides to stop growing their pregnancy,” the book says. “There are many different ways that people who are pregnant can have an abortion.”
No, an abortion means an unborn baby is killed and then expelled from the womb. It’s a horrific act of violence committed against the weak and vulnerable to end their lives.
And sadly, this book is available or will soon be available at public libraries in major cities such as New York and Boston and some smaller cities such as Bellevue, Washington, and Dayton, Ohio.
Carrying this book does a disservice to children for a couple of reasons. For one thing, pregnancy results from sex. Therefore, this book feeds into the problem of too much sexualized content in public places directed at children. Plus, abortion is a controversial and upsetting issue, and the book doesn’t tell children the whole truth about it.
The book’s purpose is to brainwash generations of children into thinking there is nothing wrong with abortion — and that it doesn’t kill a human being.
That’s disgusting and wrong. Hopefully, these communities will do the right thing and take these books out of circulation. Copies of the book don’t need to be burned, but they don’t need to be in the children’s section of public libraries, either.
