In a newly reported audio recording, Hunter Biden appears to admit that he “smoked crack” with the late former Washington D.C. Mayor Marion Barry.
In a phone call, which the Daily Mail reported took place in January 2019, the son of President Joe Biden told a friend about running into Barry at a local bar while he was a college student at Georgetown University.
“You know what? I actually smoked crack with Marion Barry. I swear to f***ing God,” Biden said.
The two seemed to be debating whether civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. or India’s famous pacifist Mohandas Gandhi ever used cocaine before Barry’s name was invoked.
Biden said he would go to a place next to a now-closed bar near the Georgetown University campus.
“I was a sophomore, I guess, there was — a junior when that happened. But he used to come there and drink, like late-late. And I would be there. And he would go the bathroom,” Biden said.
The recording, which was obtained by the Daily Mail, was part of the hard drive contents from a damaged laptop left at a computer repair shop in Delaware in 2019 that is believed to have belonged to Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden, 51, has never denied the authenticity of the computer materials, and he has never directly addressed what appears to be a computer repair invoice signed by him on April 12, 2019. On a media blitz for his new memoir about his struggle with drug addiction, Beautiful People, the son of the president said he didn’t know if the laptop was his and falsely claimed that the U.S. intelligence community concluded the story surrounding the device was “Russian disinformation.”
Other laptop contents include several personal photos and text messages Biden apparently had with his father, Joe Biden, including conversations about his private business ventures.

Barry served four terms as mayor, first from 1979-91 and then from 1995-99. He also was an at-large councilman and a councilman for the city’s Ward 8. He died in 2014 at the age of 78.
Barry announced he would end his first mayoral stint after he was charged with cocaine possession in 1990. He was arrested in a sting operation involving Hazel “Rasheeda” Moore, with whom Barry was having an affair, according to the Washington Post. Barry was recorded smoking crack cocaine in a D.C. hotel before the FBI stormed the room. Barry can be heard saying, “B**** set me up … I shouldn’t have come here,” during the incident.
