The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot released Monday its witness list for Tuesday’s hearing on former President Donald Trump’s pressure campaign against state elections officials. The hearing’s witnesses will include Georgia Secretary of state Brad Raffensperger (R), who resisted pressure from Trump to block the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Other witnesses will include Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers (R); Gabriel Sterling, Raffensperger’s top deputy; and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, a former Georgia election worker.

Raffensperger, as the state’s top elections official, defended Georgia’s election process as Trump and his allies circulated unfounded claims that the election was stolen from the former president. In a transcript of a now-infamous Jan. 2, 2021, phone call, Trump tried to pressure Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to swing the state’s election in his favor rather than Biden’s.

“So what are we going to do here, folks? I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break,” Trump said on the call.

In subsequent media interviews, Raffensperger has described the call as an attempt to intimidate him into changing the results, which he said he would not do.

In a bid for revenge, Trump backed a primary challenger to Raffensperger, Rep. Jody Hice, who was unsuccessful in his bid to unseat the secretary of state, as was a comparable bid by former Sen. David Purdue (R) to unseat Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who also resisted Trump’s pressure to overturn the election results.

Moss was falsely accused by Trump allies of circulating suitcases full of illegal ballots for Biden. She was later doxxed and threatened.
