Earlier this week, the Marines sent out a tweet containing a picture of a combat helmet with rainbow-colored bullets attached. It was an embarrassment and indicative of the backwardness of our country’s current priorities. Moreover, the tweet is nothing more than the Democrats’ latest attempt to pander to a group and create further division in the country.
“Throughout June, the USMC takes #Pride in recognizing and honoring the contributions of our LGBTQ service members,” the tweet read. “We remain committed to fostering an environment free from discrimination, and defend the values of treating all equally, with dignity and respect.”
First off, there’s absolutely no need to do anything like this. All Marines deserve to be treated equally — that goes without saying. They are signing up to risk their lives to defend our country. However, whoever these heroes decide to be sexually attracted to should not warrant any extra celebration or recognition. Why are LGBT Marines prioritized over, say, those Marines who choose to be abstinent? Or heterosexual Marines? The answer, of course, is they shouldn’t be.
Next, we absolutely should honor the brave and courageous men and women who volunteer to fight for their country by enlisting in the Marine Corps. They deserve the utmost respect, especially since they are doing this on their own accord and not through a military draft. They are our country’s bravest and deserve to be celebrated.
But this is utterly ridiculous.
As stated above, being LGBT doesn’t warrant any special or separate recognition merely because of one’s sexual attraction. Someone’s personal business, such as their romantic or lustful relationships, does not deserve any recognition. It is not some kind of achievement.
If the goal is equality, then the Marine Corps, or anybody in the country, should treat them as equals. Not give them the equivalent of a participation trophy and specifically prioritize people because of their sexual orientation.
The LGBT lobby has done much damage in infiltrating our country’s institutions. We now live in a society that treats LGBT people as if they’re some special, protected species of humanity. Instead, they are normal human beings that just so happen to be attracted to people of the same sex — or, in the case of the “T” in LGBT, suffer from gender dysphoria.
All of this is not the concern of the Marines. They have one duty — to be ready for combat to ensure all of its members efficiently protect our country from its enemies. The Marine Corps should know little about its members’ romantic history. It is of no concern to them. Our government should be making sure they are willing and able to defend our country, not woke and sensitive to left-wing political agendas.
No LGBT person should endure any discrimination of any kind, in the military or anywhere else. Obviously, this has not always been the case, but our country has worked to rectify this mistake. However, this incessant pandering and genuflecting to LGBT people is not the answer. We should be treating everyone equally, not having special recognition because of sexual and romantic differences.
