Weinstein, 70, will be charged with two counts of indecent assault against a woman from an incident in London in August 1996, according to a statement by the Crown Prosecution Service.

“Charges have been authorised against Harvey Weinstein, 70, following a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation,” said Rosemary Ainslie, head of the Crown Prosecution Service Special Crime Division, in a statement. “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”
Weinstein is serving a 23-year sentence after being convicted in 2020 on counts of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual assault in New York. Last July, he was extradited to California, where he faces additional charges of rape and sexual assault for incidents involving five women between 2004 and 2013.
