'Not enough reality': Biden's first budget headed down dead end on Capitol Hill

President Joe Biden has rolled out his highly anticipated first budget request, a far-reaching $6 trillion ask with an expensive price tag and vague left-leaning proposals that GOP lawmakers and Congress-watchers say is largely doomed on Capitol Hill.

Historically, presidential budget requests have been overhauled by Congress, the government branch responsible for managing the country’s purse strings, according to Joshua Gotbaum, a Brookings Institution guest economics scholar.
