Mark Kelly told Arizona voters in 2020 that he would be transparent and make his plans public to ensure accountability. Yet, since day one, he has been less than straightforward, preferring to dodge the tough issues that matter most to voters.
Now, Sen. Mark Kelly is complicit in the Democrats’ grand and misguided plan to usher through a $3.5 trillion spending bill that threatens the economic security of hardworking people who are recovering from a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and facing shortages of common goods and alarming inflation.
The Kelly-supported mammoth bill is lined with egregious leftist policies, including tax breaks for rich people to buy electric cars, a $200 million allotment for a park in Nancy Pelosi’s district, and tax credits for elite universities that continue to stifle free speech.
The 2,500-page bill also includes $4 billion for distance learning, even though our children cannot continue their education virtually. A report from the Department of Education shows a drop in academic achievement and a negative impact on student mental health. Then there’s $25 million going toward “bias training” that teaches young students to hate our country and our American values.
The next outrage is the $150,000 write-off for recording artists and $1,500 tax credit for electric bikes. Hardworking people shouldn’t have to subsidize the lifestyles of the wealthy.
Meanwhile, the Biden and Kelly energy plan will mean higher costs and fewer jobs for families. This plan will put 130,000 jobs at risk, increase electricity costs, and add 14 cents a gallon to your stops at the gas station.
With provisions like that, people are left wondering: Who does this mammoth bill actually help? As each day passes, Democrats cannot agree with their own plan, and people are turning against radical spending during a time of record inflation.
Unfortunately, this is business as usual in Washington. When we need all of our leaders to stand against out-of-control spending, the process just becomes more partisan and divisive.
As Arizona’s attorney general, I’ve taken the fight to the courts to protect Arizonans from unconstitutional tax mandates and dangerous border policies, especially under the failing Biden administration.
In fact, I won a unanimous decision from the Arizona Supreme Court upholding the will of Arizona voters and striking down unlawful in-state tuition for DACA recipients. By contrast, Kelly is betraying voters by “looking the other way“ as free college tuition for DACA recipients is included in the massive spending bill.
My office also sued the Arizona Board of Regents, the governing board of Arizona’s public universities, twice for giving tax-exempt land to corporate interests to harvest tax dollars while taxpayers got nothing and tuition rates continued to skyrocket. That’s how you stand up for taxpayers.
When President Joe Biden tried to slip the Green New Deal in the back door through his regulatory carbon policy, I challenged it in court. Now I’m fighting the Biden administration over a tax mandate in its latest COVID-19 relief bill.
Kelly is up to his neck in the Democrats’ attempt to spend away our future on far-left socialist policies. Voters deserve to know where their elected officials stand on the issues. Apparently, Kelly, who claimed he would be an independent voice in the Senate, is happy just going along with what Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer want about 98% of the time.
Kelly is an unmitigated disaster who cannot be trusted, and the people deserve better. We have a responsibility to preserve the promise of America for the well-being of our families and future generations. It’s time for Arizona to make a change in the U.S. Senate to more reliable and proven leadership.
