‘You must burn’: Father of shooting victim interrupts Miami police press conference

The father of one of the victims killed in a shooting outside a Miami banquet hall Sunday interrupted a police press conference as authorities were discussing details of the incident.

Clayton Dillard showed up distraught to a Monday news conference, a day after his 26-year-old son Clayton was killed along with another 26-year-old man in the mass shooting.

“You all killed my kid. You must burn,” Dillard can be heard yelling before officers escorted him away.

Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez responded after Dillard was brought away.

“That is the pain that affects our community,” Ramirez said. “Right there — right before you. That’s why together, all of us, we must work harder to bring justice to these families.”

Two people were killed and 21 others were injured in a shooting outside of El Mula Banquet Hall shortly after midnight Sunday. Eight people were transported to nearby hospitals, and at least another 12 had checked themselves into medical facilities.

The shooting occurred after three people exited an SUV and began shooting into a crowd. The three gunmen were allegedly armed with semi-automatic rifles and fired dozens of bullets into the crowd, police said.

The suspects were wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts, according to the Miami Herald.

The Nissan Pathfinder, which was the vehicle the three men stormed out of before firing shots, was found Monday afternoon. It had been reported stolen a few weeks prior.
