There were “no areas” without air raid sirens in Ukraine overnight, and multiple reports of airstrikes, a day after Russian officials pledged to cut back military operations around the cities of Kyiv and Chernihiv.
Explosions were reported overnight in the Ukrainian cities Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, in the western Ukrainian region of Khmelnytsky, and in neighborhoods in the Donbas region. A senior Ukrainian official said on Wednesday there were “no areas without sirens.”

In the morning, they were repeated.”

He reported that in at least one instance, Ukrainian defense forces were able to knock out an attempted airstrike in Ukraine’s capital city.

“In Kyiv, several rockets were shot down over the capital,” Denysenko said.
“So there is no need to say so far that the Russians are reducing the intensity of hostilities in Kyiv and Chernihiv directions,” he added.
Lesia Vasylenko, a Ukrainian member of Parliament, also reported sirens across western Ukraine and expressed skepticism about claims Russian forces are retreating.
“Sirens across West #Ukraine sound simultaneously. This is #putin retreating to the East for you. In #Rivne now and the sound of war is loud and clear,” Vasylenko tweeted.

Ukrainian officials have not released information on the number of causalities in these overnight attacks.
Russia’s military said Tuesday it would cut back operations near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and Chernihiv in a move meant “to increase trust” as delegations from both countries met in Istanbul for their first face-to-face talks in two weeks.
