Mike Lindell takes credit for Trump’s supposed belief of an August inauguration

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is taking credit for the reports that President Donald Trump has been telling those close to him that he could be “reinstated” as president in August.

The first report that Trump allegedly believes he will re-assume the presidency in August, though it’s not possible, came from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman on Tuesday, while Lindell has been making the claim for months.

“If Trump is saying August, that is probably because he heard me say it publicly,” Lindell told the Daily Beast on Wednesday, though he said he doesn’t “know for sure.”

“The month of August, for this, is subjective,” he said. “It is my hope that Donald Trump is reinstated, after all the proof comes out, by the end of August, but I don’t know if it’ll be that month, specifically. I started saying August … about four weeks ago. That was my estimation. I spoke about it with my lawyers who said that they should have something ready for us to bring before the U.S. Supreme Court by July. So, in my mind, I hope that means that we could have Donald Trump back in the White House by August. That’s how I landed on August, and I’m hopeful that that is correct.”

Lindell publicly made the claim of a resumption of a Trump presidency come August during an appearance on former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s podcast in late May.

In another appearance, he claimed, “The August part is me.”

Lindell isn’t the only person in the Trump orbit to float the fake proposition that he could be put back into power.

Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn endorsed a “Myanmar-style coup,” though he later denied it despite his comments being recorded on video.

Sidney Powell, who represented Flynn and has promoted a litany of false, wide-ranging election-related conspiracy theories, also said at the right-wing conference in Dallas, Texas, “It should be that he can simply be reinstated, that a new inauguration date is set.”

Both Lindell and Powell are among a group of conservative actors in the president’s orbit who have faced lawsuits regarding their election fraud claims.
