Media gush: Bidens restore ‘love’ at the White House, ‘we missed that’

There are apparently no limits to erasing the Trumps from Washington when it comes to President Biden’s supporters in the media.

But three veterans of the Obama White House who now host an Apple podcast took it to a new level today when they declared that love and family have been brought back to the Executive Mansion.

In describing Inauguration Day family scenes between the Bidens and Vice President Kamala Harris and husband Doug Emhoff, the three women who anchor Apple podcast “Pod is a woman” sounded like they never saw former President Donald Trump and former first lady Melania Trump hold hands or the tens of dozens of times the former first family and former Vice President Mike Pence and wife Karen were surrounded by their children and close friends.

The Trumps were more formal in public and often drew sneers from Washington critics who longed for the touchy Obamas — and are now elated by the Bidens, as seen in dozens of stories and tweets.

"Pod is a woman" co-host Darienne Page said, “One of the things that I will say in seeing the partners, everyone from Doug to Dr. Biden to Mrs. Obama, just the sheer elation and joy that they felt for their partners. The support that they were providing them. I was overjoyed, and as I watched President Biden and Dr. Biden get ready to walk into the cross halls for the first time, the cross halls, it’s the open front room of the White House, the embrace that they shared, where he pulled her in, and he kissed her on the top of her head, it was, it was really beautiful to see, and their love story is one for the ages.”

Co-host Alejandra Campoverdi said she was happy to see love back in the White House “again.”

Referring to first lady Jill Biden’s stare at the president during his swearing-in, she said, “did you see her look when she was holding the Bible, did you see how she was looking at him? You can’t fake that. To see a couple in love like that in the White House, two couples in love like that in the White House, again. You know, she looked like she was tearing up, and then their whole family kind of surrounded him after he took the oath. Again, just with so much emotion, and we missed that.”

Co-host Johanna Maska noted the presence of the Biden family on the swearing-in podium — smaller like the Trump family four years earlier.

“That love is so authentic too. I mean, you all would laugh at how many Bidens were everywhere,” she said.

She added, “the family members, you know, their real affinity for one another is special.” She also tied “ethics” to the family, saying, “I think that they’re doing everything they can to make sure that they uphold the highest level of ethics throughout all of this.”

And that prompted Page to add, “and not backing down from sharing that love for one another.”
