The New York Yankees’ Tuesday night game versus the Tampa Bay Devil Rays is in doubt after five Yankees coaches tested positive for COVID-19.
Yankees third-base coach Phil Nevin has been the only one identified so far as having been infected, according to FanSided.
The Yankees coaching and support staff have a vaccination rate of 100%, while the entire Yankees organization is 85% inoculated.

However, the Yankees have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which has an efficacy rate of 66% at preventing COVID-19. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have a 95% efficacy. All three vaccines, though, are nearly 100% effective at preventing severe COVID-19 and hospitalization.
It remains to be seen if the game will be canceled. Yankees manager Aaron Boone has said his team expects to play the game tonight.

Yet it would not be unusual for the Commissioner’s Office of Major League Baseball to step in and postpone it. During the 2020 season, MLB postponed over 40 games due to cases of COVID-19.
