Country music superstar Toby Keith reveals stomach cancer diagnosis

The “Red Solo Cup” singer announced his diagnosis in posts on Twitter and Instagram. Keith, who is on tour promoting his new album, also revealed that he would be taking some time off from performing.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery,” the 60-year-old musician said. “So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”

“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family,” he added. “But I will see the fans sooner rather than later. I can’t wait.”

The country music star was next set to perform in Illinois and Michigan on June 17 and 18, respectively, according to his website. It is unclear what will happen regarding those shows. The Ohio State Fair announced it is canceling Keith’s performance scheduled for July 28 after he announced his cancer diagnosis.
