A Venezuelan man who came to the United States is calling on his large social media following to “unite” and put up the money to pay the legal fees of the 15-year-old Times Square immigrant shooting suspect.
“I invite you to find [his] mother and [for] all of us to unite to pay the fines [so] that the young Venezuelan feels that he’s not alone during difficult moments. Remember that up there, there’s a God who sees everything [down here],” Leonal Moreno, a Venezuelan TikToker whose account is leitooficial_25, said, according to a report.
“An entire nation [is] on top of him instead of helping him — remember that the young man is going to be released, and he will be released. Do you know why? Because he’s underage.”
One never knows when God is going to place them in a situation like the one the 15-year-old suspect now faces, Moreno said, further claiming that it’s up to Venezuelans like him to band together and give Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa an opportunity.
Rivas-Figueroa was taken into custody on Feb. 9 and is accused of shooting at a police officer and injuring a tourist in the Times Square area.
He is being tried as an adult and is also reportedly connected to a Jan. 27 armed robbery in the Bronx.
Moreno’s post demanding aid for the young immigrant has received over 2.5 million views, according to the report.
The influencer’s content heavily focuses on life after coming to the United States, and he reportedly lives in Ohio.

He shares tales of begging on the streets and living off government funds.
“You came to the United States to work, and I came to vacation. Look at the difference,” he said in one video, the report noted. “You and I didn’t come with the same purpose. You came to the United States to pay the taxes that you didn’t pay in Venezuela.”
