COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Engineering students from the University of South Carolina are hoping to beat the competition by trying to keep a concrete boat afloat on Lake Murray.

Students from the College of Engineering and Computing Friday are hosting the American Society of Civil Engineers’ regional conference.
