The View praises Biden for finding ‘perfect’ response to concerns about his age

Co-hosts of The View talk show praised a recent interview President Joe Biden did on Monday night, with one of the hosts saying he found the “perfect” response to concerns about his age.

The interview that Biden did was with late-night host Seth Meyers, who had the president as a guest on his show. The co-hosts of The View praised how relaxed Biden was during the interview, with Biden joking that a person’s age does not matter, but rather the person’s ideas.

“So I think that the White House finally came up with the perfect line to combat the age idea,” Alyssa Farah Griffin said. “I think saying ‘it’s about how old your ideas are,’ and tying it to the abortion issue to rolling back LGBTQ rights, that’s what they need to say.”

Griffin added that she believed Biden’s appearance on Meyers’s show was one of his best performances in appearances with the media. She also believes the president should do more interviews ahead of the 2024 presidential election, inviting him to make a guest appearance on The View.

“They have to see him to know that he’s up to the job,” Griffin said.

Biden, if he was to win reelection, would be 86 years old by the time he finishes a second term as president. Biden has sought to use humor as a way to negate concerns about his age, joking in January that he only looks 40 years old.

During his interview with Meyers, Biden told voters to “take a look at the other guy” when asked about his age, referring to former President Donald Trump, 77. Trump has not yet secured the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nomination, but he is still leading in various polls and primary elections, recently winning the South Carolina primary on Saturday.

In the midst of Biden defending his age, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has come to the aid of the president, arguing that the “wisdom” from Biden’s age is a “gift.” Newsom has been speculated to be a potential replacement for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate should Biden withdraw, though the governor has consistently denied any possibility of doing this.
