Dan Patrick blasts Biden’s border trip as too late: ‘He’s got a cold heart’

Texas Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick blasted President Joe Biden’s visit to the southern border as a ploy for “the politics of the future.”

Biden is expected to visit Brownsville, Texas, on Thursday — his second trip to the border as president, which will be about 325 miles away from where former President Donald Trump will be in the border city of Eagle Pass.

Patrick criticized Biden’s lack of attention to the border crisis, which has seen more than 10 million immigrants enter the country illegally since Biden took office in 2021. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.

“He obviously has a cold heart,” Patrick said of Biden during an appearance on America Reports. “He’s got a cold heart for all of these deaths that he’s seen over these years.”

The recent death of 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant, has drawn additional attention to the border crisis’s contribution to rising crime.

Operation Lone Star, Texas’s own effort to secure the border since March 2021, has seen officials seize more than 454 million lethal doses of fentanyl since it began.

“I don’t know how he looks in the mirror,” Patrick added. “And he’s coming to Brownsville on Thursday. Like, thank you for showing up now after all these people have died.”

“He doesn’t care. This is all about the politics of the future. They want millions to come here, become citizens, then voters, so they can control the country,” he continued.

For the first time since polling began regarding the construction of a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, new data show a majority is in support of such an effort. A Monmouth University poll now shows 53% support the construction of a border wall compared to just 46% who oppose it.

“I’m fed up. The governor is fed up. The people are fed up. And America’s fed up,” Patrick said, offering a message directly to the public. “In November, you better elect a Republican to the White House because if you continue with Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, or whoever they put up, this will continue. Donald Trump will get it done. We will close the border, but we can do it sooner if the Supreme Court will let us.”
