President Trump plans to pardon someone “very, very important” on Tuesday.
In an Air Force One conversation with reporters on Monday night, the president teased the pardon but would not say who the recipient would be, according to a pool report. He did, however, say that it would not be Michael Flynn or Edward Snowden.
On Saturday, Trump said he would consider the possibility of pardoning Snowden, a former contractor for the National Security Agency, who faces criminal charges over his leaking of classified information related to government surveillance.
The president has made several controversial commutations and pardons over the course of his presidency. Most recently, he commuted the sentence of Roger Stone, his former campaign adviser.
