Long-shot eyes DC’s 19 delegates ‘to take down’ Trump

The last man standing in the Republican primary race to stop former President Donald Trump’s march to a third GOP nomination hopes to show his hand and take all 19 delegates available at this weekend’s Washington, D.C., primary.

“The plan is simple: demonstrate to America that Trump is not inevitable,” David Stuckenberg told Secrets on Wednesday. “We hope to have 19 [delegates] when we win the district.”

Stuckenberg, an Air Force veteran and combat pilot who helped build a company that makes water out of the air, unveiled his “Operation Dark Horse” in November and has been running for president ever since.

While he hasn’t won any delegates, he has big hopes for the three-day Washington primary held traditionally at Washington’s Madison Hotel on 15th Street.

“This is a David versus Goliath challenge — a contrasting message of reform over revolution, a turnaround team rather than a Cabinet of ‘yes’ people, and international stability rather than turmoil,” he said.

“I’ll be asking voters to put a smooth stone into my hand to take down the giant,” he said in reference to the story in which David carried five stones representing faith, trust, courage, obedience, and praise to attack Goliath.

Trump is not devoting many resources to the district, which typically votes 90% Democratic in the presidential election. Fellow challenger former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will address voters but is more focused on the following Super Tuesday collection of primaries.

Stuckenberg is the “last man standing” in the GOP race against Trump after Ryan Binkley fell out and endorsed Trump this week.

“As the prospect of a Trump coronation nears, I have been listening to voters across the nation express the same concern: He’s perceived as elderly, unstable, and dangerous,” Stuckenberg said.

While Trump is facing a wave of legal battles this year, he is not expected to bow out of the race. And polls suggest that the more President Joe Biden’s legal team throws at him, the stronger he gets.
