The White House bristled at repeated questions regarding President Joe Biden‘s reliance on notecards, most recently during last week’s trip to the southern border and his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“You’re upset because the president has notecards?” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre asked a reporter Tuesday. “You’re asking me a question about the president having notecards? A president who has had a, probably, one of the most successful first three years of an administration than any modern-day president. He’s done more in the first three years than most presidents who have had two terms.”
“Answer his question,” another reporter, Newsmax’s James Rosen, shouted.
“I’m not speaking to you right now, James,” Jean-Pierre replied. “But thank you so much for interjecting.”
Jean-Pierre then said that the public cares more about how Biden “is delivering” and “that’s what’s the most important thing here.”

Axios reported last week that Biden, 81, is relying more heavily on notecards during private fundraisers and has been using those notes to answer questions from prescreened donors, raising concerns about his age and preparation for a rigorous campaign. Those exchanges typically happen after reporters have left the room.
“In news that matters to the American people when it comes to the 2024 election today: Three IVF clinics in Alabama ceased operations out of fear of criminal prosecution by the state — all at the feet of Donald Trump,” Biden campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz told the outlet.
