Trump chooses Jovita Carranza for treasurer of the United States

President Trump has named Jovita Carranza treasurer of the United States.

The White House said Carranza is the founder of JCR Group and previously served as deputy administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She previously worked at the United Parcel Service.

According to its website, the treasurer of the United States “has direct oversight over the U.S. Mint, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and Fort Knox and is a key liaison with the Federal Reserve. In addition, the Treasurer serves as a senior advisor to the Secretary in the areas of community development and public engagement.”

The treasurer’s signature appears on U.S. paper currency.
