Kobe Bryant’s 2000 Lakers ring gifted to father up for grabs at auction

A rare 14K gold 2000 Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Lakers NBA championship ring that the late basketball legend gifted to his father is up for auction.

“Obviously proud of winning his very first NBA Championship, Kobe ordered an extra copy of the majestic ring he was issued to give to his father, Joe Bryant, as a special gift,” a description of the ring via auctioneer Goldin read. “This is not an executive version of the Championship ring, but the same EXACT ring given to Kobe Bryant and other Lakers players.”

Joe “Jellybean” Bryant was a veteran of the NBA himself and witnessed his son win his first championship when the Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers in six games to capture the 200 NBA title.

“This ring is in Kobe’s ring size 11 ½ and weighs approximately 59.6 grams,” according to the item description. “This exquisite ring features a total of 40 diamonds, including five larger round diamonds on either side of the face, which display ‘LAKERS’ filled with purple enamel. ‘WORLD CHAMPIONS’ reads in relief lettering.”

Other features of the ring include the name “BRYANT,” his number “8,” and banners revealing the Lakers impressive regular and postseason records of 67-15 and 15-8, respectively.

“Obtained directly from the Bryant family, this ring is a true one-of-a-kind, and we can confirm that it is the only championship ring ever given by Kobe to his father,” according to Goldin. “This ring comes with a LOA from Pam Bryant.”
