Republicans are reportedly canceling a press conference that was scheduled for later Thursday morning ahead of the House vote on the continuing resolution that would fund the government into February.
Although the reason for the cancellation is unknown, Fox News reported that there is a possibility that it will be rescheduled for later in the day.
House Republicans are meeting with President Trump at noon as they considering putting a stop to the continuing resolution, the White House announced.
In the statement, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump “does not want to go further” on a government spending bill that does not include funding for a border wall.
Earlier Thursday morning, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said that they could not “fumble” on border security, and he assured Trump that he, and other Republican lawmakers, would have his back if he vetoed the proposed short-term spending bill.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., had a call with Trump Thursday morning regarding the impending government shutdown and border wall funding. Although the speaker would not discuss the specifics of the call, he pledged to hold a press conference later in the day, according to ABC News.
I just walked with @SpeakerRyan from his office to the House floor following his call with @realDonaldTrump on the shutdown and border wall. Ryan refused to characterize or discuss the call at all, but pledged to hold a newser later.

Senate Republicans proposed and passed a continuing resolution Wednesday that if signed by the president would keep the government open and operational through Feb. 8., but the bill does not include any funding for Trump’s border wall.
If an agreement is not made before midnight on Friday, funding for the Department of Homeland Security and eight other federal agencies will run out and force a partial government shutdown.
