Comedian Samantha Bee will have TBS management hovering closely over her show, “Full Frontal,” after her use of profane language to talk about Ivanka Trump last week.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, strict scrutiny over the show will aim to prevent another another incident that could cause backlash from viewers and advertisers.
The decision came after Bee called Ivanka Trump, who works for her father President Trump as a White House aide, a “feckless c—” on her show over a photo that Trump posted of herself and her 2-year-old son amid a controversy related to illegal immigrant family separation. Bee proceeded to tell Trump to “put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it.”
Bee issued a public apology on Twitter, saying, “I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.” TBS subsequently issued a statement expressing regret that the expletives were aired. The controversy caused sponsors AutoTrader and State Farm to both suspend their advertising program from the show.
I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.
