Flashback: Mike Pence sat 15 feet behind Obama at his first inauguration

Here’s a high school yearbook flashback: When President Obama took the oath of office eight years ago, one of the men who would be on the winning ticket to succeed him was sitting just some 15 feet away.

Indiana Rep. Mike Pence, then the chairman of the House Republican Conference, was seated five rows back from Obama.

It’s safe to say he’ll have an even better seat this Jan. 20.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., who now holds the same position Pence did in 2009, was also seated up close (that’s her in the red scarf). House Speaker Paul Ryan, then the ranking member on the House Budget Committee, also made it on the stage level, albeit way in the back (he’s in the Green Bay Packers hat, circled).
