Daily Show’s Trevor Noah to entertain at 2022 White House Correspondents Dinner

The White House Correspondents Association announced Monday that The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah would provide entertainment for guests at the 2022 White House Correspondents Dinner.

“Trevor is an incredible talent who keeps us laughing — and thinking — four nights a week,” said President Steven Portnoy of the WHCA. “We can’t wait for him to help bring our 100-year Washington tradition ‘Back to Abnormal,'” referencing the comedian’s current tour.

The dinner will take place on April 30 and is the first time it’s been hosted since 2019. The WHCA said the event would “offer the first opportunity since 2016 for the press and the president to share a few laughs for a good cause,” recalling its rocky relationship with former President Donald Trump.

Noah once called himself a “Cuomosexual” on his show, referring to the now-disgraced brothers, Chris and Andrew Cuomo.

The left-wing provocateur frequently rants about U.S. politics, once comparing the United States to Nazi Germany.

“Turns out, I left the Third World and landed in the Third Reich,” he said, referencing his roots in South Africa.

Noah also bought into newfangled gender ideology, stating, “Given everything we’re learning about gender, gender reveal parties should only happen when the child is old enough to know their actual gender.”

“The system in policing is doing exactly what it’s meant to do in America, and that is to keep poor people in their place. Who happens to be the most poor in America? Black people,” Noah said about U.S. policing. “We’re not dealing with bad apples, we’re dealing with a rotten tree.”

Noah recently waded into the Joe Rogan controversy, going on a rant about revelations of racist comments from Rogan. However, some Twitter users pointed to his comments as hypocrisy, as Noah had a similar controversy in the past.

“Trevor Noah got into an identical offensive joke controversy as Joe Rogan when he was hired for the Daily Show in 2015. His reasoning was the same as Rogan’s (except Noah didn’t apologize). Also later in this thread you can see Rogan vocally supported him on Twitter,” tweeted Noam Blum.

In 2019, the Trump administration ordered a boycott of the annual dinner, with the former president traveling to Wisconsin for a campaign rally instead.

“The President and members of his administration will not attend the White House Correspondents Dinner this year,” an official told the Washington Examiner via email at the time.
