This week will start off hot and end with high temperatures near the norm, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service predicts highs at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport of about 96, 99 and 97 degrees for today, Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday after 2 p.m. as well as on Thursday. Forecasters are predicting a 30-percent chance of precipitation for Wednesday and a 40-percent chance for Thursday.
Following the potential rain will be a mostly sunny weekend with temperatures close to the normal high of 89 degrees, forecasters said. The highs on Friday and Saturday are expected to be about 87 degrees, and the high on Sunday is expected to be about 88.
