A food service manufacturing plant near Atlanta, Georgia, was placed on lockdown after a gunman reportedly shot an employee, as were the schools in the nearby vicinity.
Dart Container Corp. said one person was shot after a gunman entered the plant around 7 a.m., according to the Associated Press. The victim’s condition remains unknown. Authorities are still searching for the shooter, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 2 Action News.
“We evacuated the building, and management staff (is) assisting law enforcement, who are securing the site,” a spokesman for the plant said in a statement to AJC.com. “At this time, we have no further information on the victim or the shooter.”
“Rockdale County High School, Rockdale Magnet School, C.J. Hicks Elementary, & Transportation offices are on lockdown due to police activity in the area,” Rockdale County Public Schools tweeted. “All of our students & staff are safe. No visitors are allowed on campus at this time. We will keep you updated.”
