Drivers see vehicle costs remain stable

Maryland motorists can expect to pay about the same average price of owning and operating a new vehicle in 2007 as they did in 2006, right around $7,800. This figure remains almost unchanged from last year?s average of 52.2 cents per mile, AAA reported. The number is based on an average of driving 15,000 miles annually. “While costs for some items such as insurance and financing increased from 2006, a lower cost for fuel at the end of last year offset these expenses resulting in no net increase in the projected average driving expense.” AAA Mid-Atlantic Manager of Public and Government Affairs Ragina C. Averella said.
