White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday that President Trump could possibly add more names to his list of potential Supreme Court nominees.
“I can’t say there won’t be someone added on or not, but that proved to be a very, very helpful list the first time,” Spicer said. “So he feels very comfortable with the list, but I can’t say for certain there’s no one who could get added to a future list.”
During the campaign, Trump, in order to reassure conservatives that he would nominate a conservative justice, released the names of people he said he would look to appoint. Justice Neil Gorsuch, who Trump appointed to take over for the late Justice Antonin Scalia, was on the list.
The comments follow speculation that Justice Anthony Kennedy could step retire and the president could appoint another justice.
