Report: Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner house hunting in DC

Ivanka Trump is reportedly looking for a new home in Washington, D.C. as speculation swirls around the role her husband, Jared Kushner, might play in the White House once President-elect Trump takes office.

The couple and their three children live in New York City but soon plan to relocate to the nation’s capital, CNN reported Monday, hours before the Trump team announced that Ivanka Trump would meet with former Vice President Al Gore to discuss climate issues.

Trump and Kushner have both kept quiet about how they hope to serve the next administration, though the incoming Republican president has said his three eldest children are likely to be given full control of his real estate empire before he takes office. Anti-nepotism laws could also make it difficult for Kushner to hold a formal White House staff position.

“I think Jared Kushner … is going to be very involved in decision-making,” incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus told NBC News shortly after last month’s election. Kushner was spotted touring the White House grounds with President Obama’s chief of staff during Trump’s first sit-down meeting with Obama, and is said to have been present during many interviews between the president-elect and potential members of his cabinet.

Trump transition officials did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment about Kushner and Trump’s house hunting.

Meanwhile, future first lady Melania Trump and her 10-year-old son Barron expect to remain in Manhattan through the end of the school year, at which time they are likely to move to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
