Rachel Morin’s family says ‘senseless’ death would not have happened under Trump

The family of Rachel Morin, the Maryland mother of five who was killed last year allegedly by an illegal immigrant, blames the Biden administration’s lax border policy for her death.

Patty Morin, Rachel Morin’s mother, explained that the death of her 37-year-old daughter has put her family through so much grief. Authorities recently arrested a suspect who crossed into the country illegally. Patty Morin said the news of his arrest brought back “really deep emotions of pain and grief” and made her feel as if she was processing her daughter’s death “all over again.”

“It’s a senseless death,” Patty Morin said on Fox News’s Hannity. “Who would expect, almost 2,000 miles from the south border, somebody coming from another country, coming into our small town, and just randomly attacking somebody and brutally murdering them? It’s like we’ve opened our doors and you let a stranger into your house. Who does that? We’re not protecting ourselves, we’re not protecting our families, and I think that if they had left things in place, and here I am going, I promised I wouldn’t be political, but if we had left things in place, my daughter might still be here today.”

Patty Morin added that her daughter’s “unnecessary death” is part of a larger problem within the United States, noting that innocent lives are being taken “every day.”

Rachel Morin’s brother Michael said his sister was “always the life of the party” and that he found out about her death from an investigator. He added that he suspected his sister could have possibly been killed by an illegal immigrant and said her death occurred in “a very safe neighborhood” where “nothing like this has ever happened.”

“I don’t want to talk politics, but I know how I’m voting this year,” Michael Morin said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime.

Randolph Rice, the lawyer for the Morin family, argued that the U.S. needs to “reset the border.” He cited how this ought to be seen as a bipartisan matter and stressed the need to be more thorough with who is allowed into the country because the suspect in Rachel Morin’s death had previously killed a woman in El Salvador.

The suspect, Victor Martinez Hernandez, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is set to be extradited to Maryland to face charges for Rachel Morin’s rape and murder.

Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) told Fox News’s Fox and Friends Wednesday that he was “infuriated” by her death and insisted that the border crisis is affecting every state in the country, but he stopped short of criticizing Biden claiming that an overall “lack of courage” in Washington is to blame.

The arrest of Hernandez comes after Laken Riley, a college student in Georgia, was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant earlier this year. The suspect in Riley’s murder is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who has pleaded not guilty to her murder.
