Rep. Lauren Boebert unfolded a space blanket associated with migrant detention centers as she sat and listened to President Joe Biden give a speech to a joint session of Congress.
“Lauren Boebert has unfurled a space blanket,” Daily Beast reporter Matt Fuller tweeted as Biden addressed the joint session of Congress nearly 100 days into his presidency.
Alright, so Lauren Boebert just sort of loudly opened a space blanket—like shook it free so that everyone could hear it in the chamber—and then just draped it on her lap.
I honestly don’t know what it means.

The Colorado Republican covered herself with the blanket, similar to the blanket that migrants have been given at border detention centers over the past few months, and continued listening to the speech.

“President Biden did not address or bring attention to the crisis at our southern border,” Boebert’s office told the Washington Examiner. “So Rep. Boebert did.”
Biden has been widely criticized by conservatives for his unwillingness to refer to the record number of migrants, many of them unaccompanied minors, flowing into the country since he took office.
The president briefly touched on immigration in his Wednesday night speech, saying that we need to look at the “root” of the problem, which he said includes violence, corruption, and hunger in other countries. Biden also said he had faith that Vice President Kamala Harris, who he appointed as his “border czar,” will “get the job done.”
The president did not offer specifics as to what will be done with the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors currently in custody at the border.
