President Trump is keen to get back on the road and show that America is getting back to business as coronavirus restrictions begin to be lifted across the country, according to aides.
They said work had already begun on identifying possible visits, although nothing has been scheduled until June when Trump is due to deliver the graduation speech at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said he was “itching” to go.
“He would like to get back on the road,” she told reporters at the White House on Wednesday.
The president has not left the White House for almost a month.
Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence is gradually getting back to a normal travel routine. He visited the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on Saturday and a General Electric Healthcare plant in Wisconsin on Tuesday.
He is due to visit a General Motors plant building ventilators in Kokomo, Indiana, next week.
A senior administration official said the aim of the Pence trips was to both thank workers helping in the coronavirus response and show that the United States was gradually opening up again.
