Sessions: Donald Trump will build the wall

Sen. Jeff Sessions, the staunchest supporter of Donald Trump in Congress, told delegates at the Republican National Convention that Trump would stop unfavorable trade agreements and curb illegal immigration in defense of the middle class, which has suffered under President Obama.

“Bad trade deals close factories, and end high paying jobs,” Sessions, R-Ala., said. “Excess immigration floods the labor market, reducing jobs and wages. Improper vetting places our nation at risk of terrorism. Americans want help now. This election will make it happen.”

Sessions said presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would “build the wall” with Mexico and kill the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement with Pacific Rim nations.

Hillary Clinton, Sessions said, “has been a champion of global trade agreements,” and would do nothing to steer the nation out of an economic disaster. Clinton has said she opposes the TPP.

Sessions is the leading critic in Congress of the Obama administration’s immigration policies and wants to slow the influx of immigrants.

In his speech to the convention, Sessions railed against current policies, which he said are hurting jobs for Americans and taxing the system with hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

“These are extreme numbers,” Sessions said. “But the only solution from Obama and Hillary Clinton is to capitulate to the lawlessness and give amnesty and citizenship to all.”

Sessions said the influx of immigrants has led to lower wages, fewer jobs and a higher risk of terrorism.

“That is why we need Donald Trump,” Sessions said. “Donald Trump is the leader that will bring change. He has the strength, courage, and will to get it done.”
