ANNAPOLIS – A state-appointed commission is voting on changes to Maryland’s ailing pension system on Monday to be included in a report of recommendations to the state legislature.
The commission is expected to vote on cuts to state employees’ health benefits and a plan to shift teacher pension costs onto counties, among other decisions.
Maryland’s pension system is $33 billion underfunded, after the state paid less into the system than it owed over the last 10 years.
