Gingrich: Somebody should oversee Trump’s tweets

Top Trump adviser Newt Gingrich doesn’t think the president-elect’s tweet on Sunday alleging voter fraud was a good move by an incoming commander in chief.

“I think the worst thing he did was the tweet the other night about illegal votes,” Gingrich said Tuesday.

The vice chairman of Trump’s campaign went on to say there should be some kind of oversight process for a Trump’s oftentimes controversial Twitter account when he becomes president.

“The president of the United States can’t randomly tweet without having somebody check it out,” Gingrich told USA Today’s “Capital Download” video newsmaker series. “It makes you wonder about whatever else he’s doing. It undermines much more than a single tweet.”

On Sunday Trump tweeted: “In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.”

Asked if he believes Trump has any evidence of voter fraud, Gingrich said, “No.”
