One man who was critically wounded at former President Donald Trump’s July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has been released from the hospital after being treated for gunshot wounds to the chest and liver.
David Dutch, 57, was discharged from Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday after a nearly two-week recovery. Dutch was in critical condition after being shot twice during the attempt to assassinate Trump.
Dutch, a former Marine, was initially placed in a medically induced coma after being rushed to the hospital from the Butler Farm Show Grounds, where the rally was being held. He received multiple surgeries, and his family credited medical professionals with saving his life.
Another man shot at the Butler Trump rally, James Copenhaver, 74, remains hospitalized and in serious but stable condition. He is being treated for what his family described as “life-altering” injuries at Allegheny General Hospital.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), the former physician to the president under the Obama and Trump administrations, provided a July 20 update on Trump’s health after the 45th president was shot in the ear during the attack.
Jackson revealed that he had been treating Trump’s wound daily and that the swelling from the injury had gone down. He said, “Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound.”
While Trump, Dutch, and Copenhaver survived the gunshot wounds they sustained at the Butler rally, Corey Comperatore, 50, died shielding his family from the shooter’s barrage of bullets.

Comperatore’s firefighter uniform was on display at the Republican National Convention, where a bandaged Trump kissed the slain rallygoer’s helmet.
