Police: Morgan Harrington’s necklace not found with body

The distinctive necklace slain Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington wore the night she disappeared wasn’t recovered when her body was found months later, the Roanoke Times reports.

When Harrington went missing in October 2009, police distributed images of her clothes and accessories, including the Swarovski necklace.

The body of 20-year-old Harrington was found on a farm outside Charlottesville in January 2010. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

A Virginia State Police spokeswoman told the Roanoke Times that Harrington’s necklace wasn’t found with her body, and an investigator was checking to see whether it had turned up at a pawn shop or flea market.

Harrington’s case has also been linked through DNA evidence to an unsolved sexual assault in Fairfax City.
