‘The entire thing was offensive’: Tim Scott urges Trump to take down retweet of ‘white power’ video

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott called on President Trump to remove a video he retweeted, showing some supporters yelling, “White power!” at anti-Trump protesters in Florida.

“There’s no question he should not have retweeted it, and he should just take it down,” Scott, who is the sole black Republican senator, told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday.

Trump thanked supporters in his retweet of a video showing supporters riding golf carts with Trump 2020 campaign signs. The supporters could be seen in a yelling match between anti-Trump protesters during which a man shouts, “White power!”

Scott called the entire video offensive as it was filled with profanity in addition to the man’s comment.

“If you watch the entire video, you can’t play it because it was profanity-laced, the entire thing was offensive,” Scott said. “Certainly, the comment about the white power was offensive. There’s no question, we can play politics with it or we can’t. I’m not going to. I think it’s indefensible. We should take it down. That’s what I think.”

Following the South Carolina Republican’s comments, the president removed the retweet.
