Pedestrian, 85, succumbs to injuries

Montgomery County Police said an 85-year-old man who was struck while crossing the street in Aspen Hill has died.

Around 9 .m. Sunday, Mohammad Fartash of Silver Spring was struck by a car that while crossing Bel Pre Road in the crosswalk, police said. The 52-year-old driver of a 2002 Acura had stopped for a red light on northbound Connecticut Avenue and was preparing to turn left onto westbound Bel Pre Road. When the light turned green, the Acura turned and collided with the pedestrian.

The driver was not injured and remained at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
