Trump predicted AOC beating Joe Crowley because he wouldn’t ‘get off his fat a–‘: Book

President Trump warned that former New York Rep. Joe Crowley would lose his seat to a young, lively challenger if he did not campaign harder.

Trump reportedly told Politico reporter Tim Alberta that he predicted Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s upset win over Crowley in 2018. Trump first believed Ocasio-Cortez could win after seeing her on cable news and comparing her to Argentine actress Eva Perón.

“Trump says he told his team to call Crowley ‘and tell him he’s got himself a problem; he better get off his fat a– and start campaigning,'” Alberta wrote in his upcoming book, American Carnage.

Trump’s team did not take Ocasio-Cortez’s threat seriously and told the president that Crowley, who had begun his term in Congress in 1999, would not be beaten.

“Later, when she won, [Trump] took the opportunity to remind everyone that they had similarly underestimated him,” Alberta wrote.
