Kellyanne Conway’s husband asks what would make European allies question whether Trump is a ‘stable genius’

The husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway seemed to mock President Trump on Friday as he responded to reports European leaders are questioning Trump’s own assertion at a NATO press conference that he is a “stable genius.”

“[W]hat could possibly make them think that,” George Conway wrote on Twitter, sharing a link to a story about European partners disagreeing with Trump’s self-assessment.

Conway, a high-profile lawyer who was once shortlisted as a candidate for U.S. solicitor general in the Trump administration, hasn’t been shy about voicing his opinions regarding his wife’s boss.

He took a veiled shot at Trump in May over the president repaying the $130,000 that his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, gave porn star Stormy Daniels as part of a nondisclosure agreement, suggesting it flouted Federal Election Commission rules.

In March, Conway said it was “flabbergasting” that a deposed member of Trump’s outside legal counsel considered pardons for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Trump made headlines during his visit to Brussels for the July 2018 NATO summit when he again described himself as a “stable genius,” a term he used after the publication of controversial book about the first year of the Trump presidency, Fire and Fury.
