The woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault is reporting death threats she has received to the FBI, according to her lawyer.
Christine Blasey Ford has been subjected to various threats since she went on the record to detail her allegations against Kavanaugh over the weekend.
In an email to the Senate Judiciary Committee negotiating possible testimony about the alleged incident, Ford’s lawyer said she and her family have had to leave their home because of the threats.
“As you are aware, she has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home,” the email said, according to the New York Times.
“She wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety,” it said.
Ford’s lawyers have previously said their client’s email had been hacked and she’s had to arrange for private security to protect the family.
Ford’s team is working with the committee on how she might testify as early as next week, but said she wants to be assured her safety will be protected.
