MSNBC anchor Joy Reid said Tuesday that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) utilized the government in an “openly fascist” manner to oppose Amendment 4, suggesting the governor wants this to be his legacy.
Amendment 4, an abortion ballot measure that would prevent Florida from creating legislation that would “prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health,” failed to garner 60% of the vote needed to pass on Election Day, with the final tally getting 58% of approval. Reid suggested this is part of DeSantis’s intent for Florida to “buck the trend” in states passing “the right to bodily autonomy.”
